OyunumaIt is the remains of an explosive crater formed when Mount Hiyori erupted. A sulfur spring of about 130 degrees erupts from the bottom of the pond. Showa Shinzan and Bear Ranch (60minute):ShowaDecember 28, 1943,Lake ToyaA strong earthquake occurred near Mount Usu. results involcanic eruptions, causing the ground to rise rapidly to form a high mountain. Volcanic Activity As of September 10, Showa 20 (1945), there were 17 relatively active volcanic activities during the two-year period. To commemorate this volcanic activity, this new volcanic mountain with an altitude of 398 meters was designated as a special natural monument in 1957 and named Showa Shinzan. To this day, it is still a growing "new mountain", and white smoke can still be seen constantly erupting from the reddish-brown mountains.
The bear ranch located near the entrance of the Showa Shinzan Ropeway is home to more than 100 purebred Hokkaido brown bears. Brown bears are the largest wild mammals in Hokkaido. You can feed brown bears in the bear ranch. When they see the food, the brown bears stand up and wave to tourists in a cute manner. They are naive and very cute. Lake Toya Silo Observation Deck is the best place to take panoramic shots of Lake Toya. From here you can see all the natural landscapes around Lake Toya such as Lake Island, Mount Yotei, Showa Shinzan, and Mount Usu.
Otaru (about 90 minutes, free dinner)

Every winter around February, Otaru in the North welcomes the season of snow falling thousands of miles away. Glass floats (floating balls) that used to be tied to fishing nets will float on the Otaru canal. Candles are lit in the floats, and they float on the waves. Charming candlelight shines on the mirror-like canal water, and the snowy scenery creates the most beautiful and romantic scene in Otaru in winter.
