Stroll through the ancient streets

The Takayama City Center in the northern part of Gifu Prefecture and the center of the Hida region has preserved the complete form of castle towns and merchant towns since the Edo period. Therefore, it is called "Hida's Little Kyoto" and could have been built in the Meiji and Taisho eras. Hida Takayama is full of charm as you take a stroll through the three towns, taste local delicacies such as Hida beef and Takayama ramen, and appreciate handicrafts that embody the superb skills of Hida craftsmen.

Miyagawa Morning Market

Takayama's morning market is one of the three largest morning markets in Japan. Morning markets are held in front of Miyagawa and Takayama Jinya. The Miyagawa Morning Market stretches approximately 350 meters from the Miyagawa River flowing in the center of the town from Kaji Bridge to Yayoi Bridge. There are more than 60 stalls. There are open-air shops selling vegetables, fruits, pickles, spices, etc. on the river bank near the street. On the opposite side of the street, there are mainly shops selling snacks, snacks and handicrafts. In addition to handicrafts of alpine specialties such as baby monkeys and one-piece ittori carvings, chopsticks and other Japanese small items, there are also food and beverages such as pudding made by the villagers, taiyaki, Japanese dango, Hida beef skewers and coffee. Shirakawa Township

▼Shirakawago Gassho Village(90minute)

Shirakawa Township is surrounded by mountains, paddy fields, and trickling rivers. It is known as the kingdom of forests and streams. The village of Shirakawa-go Ogimachi is the village with the largest number of households among the three villages registered as World Heritage (Shirakawa-go, Aigura and Suganuma in Gokayama), with 152 households. The Daishirakawa River flowing out of the Reiho Hakusan Mountains merges with the Shogawa River and turns snow-white and turbid. This is the origin of the place name Shirakawa-go. The Shiroyama Observation Deck is located in the northeast of Gassho Village, Ogimachi, Shirakawago. From here, Gassho Village and the endless Hakusan Mountains can be seen at a glance.

 The Gassho-style traditional house cafe appears in Chapter 566 of ONEPIECE, a popular manga read all over the world! The large dog and the coffee cups decorated inside the store are famous for their red bean porridge served with dango in the irori. Mr. Eiichiro Oda, the author of ONEPIECE, who visited this store, will appear in the store with illustrations and this manga as color illustrations in the 566th chapter of ONEPIECE as agreed.
